Friday Club: school years reception - 4

Friday Club, held between 5pm and 6.15pm every Friday during term time, provides a fun, exciting and engaging environment for children in school years reception to year 4. Every week we put on crafts, sing songs, play games and quizzes, and listen to a message from the Bible made highly interactive using a variety of games and memory verses.

A typical week starts with singing a few songs in the large hall and a quiz on what we learned the previous week (often with prizes!). After this, the children move through to the small hall to make their crafts; examples include painting pictures, making bookmarks/face masks and the like, or decorating biscuits/cakes. Often whilst some of the children are finishing their craft, we bring out a number of balls/skipping ropes/frisbees in the large hall for those who have finished to have a run around and have fun. At around 6pm we sit down for the Bible story in the main hall interactively finding out about cool people from the Bible.

Friday club is just a great place for kids to have fun, make friends and learn about the Bible. It costs 50p each week to come, although the first week is free, so kids can come and try it out.

Youth Focus: school years 5-6

At Youth Focus, we aim to provide a safe and caring environment for children to have fun, express themselves and learn more about God. Each term we organise a full programme of games, activities, crafts, and sports. Each week we share a Christian message from the Bible and encourage the children to think about the issues raised. There is a tuck shop available.

Each term we usually arrange a trip out to Ten Pin Bowling or the Cinema and during the Summer Term (weather permitting) the group goes to Pontefract Park to play team games and activities.

For more information, please see David Morley.

Covies: school years 7-9

Covies is a club for Christian and Non-Christian young people. We do loads of interactive and fun activities, which includes playing sports, doing arts and crafts, going to Laser Quest, bowling and swimming. Aswell as having fun with each other, we love to read and study the bible together. We want to encourage the young people to know and cherish the infinite value of God and to receive joy and satisfaction in living for him. Around 20 young people attend, with half of the night dedicated to studying the Bible and half dedicated to participating in different activities.
